660 sq ft ADU Model

660 SF ADU Model (Wood Framed + Exterior Insulation)

A smart-size ADU for family, rental, or a private backyard studio

Our 660 sq ft model is a proven layout that delivers comfortable living in a compact footprint. It’s built with traditional wood framing and upgraded with continuous exterior insulation for better comfort and efficiency.

Great for:

  • In-law suite / family space
  • Long-term rental
  • Guest house / backyard studio
  • Pool house with bathroom

Construction type: Traditional wood framing (walls + roof)

Energy upgrade: Exterior insulation (continuous insulation for better temperature control and reduced drafts)

Foundation option: Post & beam/pier foundation (budget-friendly and great for many backyards)

Why exterior insulation matters (simple):

  • Helps reduce hot/cold spots
  • Improves comfort
  • Can lower heating/cooling costs
  • Adds a “tight” feel to the home

Interior layout (typical)

The 660 model is flexible. Most clients choose one of these:

Option A — Open Studio Layout

  • Open living/sleeping area
  • Full bathroom
  • Kitchen wall + dining area

Option B — 1 Bedroom Layout

  • Separate bedroom
  • Living room + kitchen
  • Full bathroom

(Layouts can be adjusted depending on your goals and city requirements.)

Heating & Cooling

We typically use A Two units split system (efficient heating + cooling).
This is a great fit for ADUs because it’s:

  • energy efficient
  • quiet
  • simple to install
  • strong performance for small spaces
